Four of Swords
Inside a quiet church, a knight lies at full rest on his tomb-like bed, hands in prayer. Three swords hang on the wall above him while a fourth is carved beneath, retired. A stained-glass window glows in the corner.

The Four of Swords is ordered rest — the deliberate retreat that lets a fighter fight again. Upright, it prescribes recovery, quiet, and stepping off the field before the field takes you off it. This is not surrender; the three swords stay on the wall, ready. Even strategy needs a sabbath.
♺ Reversed
Reversed, the rest is refused or overdone: burnout pushed through on fumes, or a recovery period that has quietly become hiding. The card marks the difference between recharging and rusting. Set a date to stand back up — then actually rest until it.
