Ten of Swords

★ Upright
The Ten of Swords is rock bottom, drawn without euphemism — betrayal, collapse, the ending that overdid it. Upright, its gift is finality: ten swords means nothing was left undecided, and the only direction remaining is the one the dawn is already taking. This is the worst of it. It is also over.
♺ Reversed
Reversed, the swords are being pulled out one by one: gradual recovery, a survived catastrophe becoming a survivable story. It can also flag melodrama — playing dead for a wound that took two swords, not ten. Either way, get up; the tide is coming in and the light is on your side.
