The Fool
A young traveler stands at the very lip of a cliff, face lifted to the sky, a small bundle on a stick over one shoulder and a white rose in the other hand. A little dog leaps at his heels — warning him or celebrating with him, depending on how you read it. The sun blazes behind snow-capped peaks. He is one step from the edge and completely unbothered.
★ Upright
The Fool is the deck's fresh start: a leap taken before the outcome can be known. Drawn upright, it points to a new venture, journey, or chapter that asks for openness rather than a finished plan. There is real innocence here, not stupidity — the willingness to look inexperienced, to trust the road, and to learn by walking it. When this card leads a reading, the moment favors beginning.
♺ Reversed
Reversed, the leap turns careless. The Fool inverted warns of recklessness dressed up as spontaneity — quitting, spending, or promising on impulse with no thought for the landing. It can also flag the opposite failure: being so afraid of looking foolish that you never start at all. Check which edge you are standing on before you move.
